The Thomas Hartman Foundation for Parkinson’s Research celebrated the work of seven scientists who are moving the field closer to finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease. The following grant recipients made presentations on new findings: Dr. Michael Kaplitt of Cornell; Dr. James Surmeier of Northwestern University; Dr. David Chan of California Institute of Technology and Dr. Rajiv Ratan of Winifred Masterson Burke Medical Research Institute.

This year’s Hartman Philanthropic Leadership Award honored John A. Danzi, chairman of the board, Long Island Hotels. The dinner also honored Warren Newman, recipient of Father Tom’s Spirit Award, given to a person affected by Parkinson’s who has contributed to the public awareness of the disease. The Cure for Sure Dinner helped to raise funds to fight Parkinson’s Disease. It was held at the Crest Hollow Country Club.
