He has also become very familiar with the needs of others. "There is such a great need for volunteerism right here on Long Island and many people are not even aware of that need," said Salerno. He saw the deficiency and became involved. "I
have found that when I volunteer, I get a great feeling of accomplishment
and personal reward from knowing that what I did makes a difference
in people's lives," he said. "Paul has a unique way of engaging people in support of causes, resulting in them feeling better about themselves. He is a dedicated member of the Long Island Volunteer Center Board, enthusiastically promoting and supporting programs including our annual Prom Boutique. And as chairman of Long Island Volunteer Enterprise (LIVE), Paul has energized employees from over 100 Long Island companies in thousands of hours of community service. He transforms vision into action and inspires others to do the same," said Joan Imhof, president and founder, LI Volunteer Center. Salerno also appreciates his company, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. "Having corporate support of volunteerism, as I receive from my firm PricewaterhouseCoopers, is extremely helpful in providing an individual the opportunity and motivation to give back to the community. Most Long Island companies encourage volunteerism and I welcome them to join Project LIVE," Salerno said. Salerno has worked tirelessly throughout his career for the development, promotion and advancement of Long Island as well as directing his time and talents to many worthwhile charitable and community organizations. He is active in the Long Island civic and not-for-profit communities. He is a founding member and chairperson of the Long Island Volunteer Enterprise, which brings together corporate volunteer and not-for-profit agencies to complete a one day community project. Salerno is also a founding member of the Long Island Volunteer Center and the Long Island Community Chest, and a current board member and treasurer of the Long Island Alzheimer's Foundation. In addition, the David Award winner is chairman of the C.W. Post Center for Family Business, which annually presents the Long Island Family Business of the Year Awards. He is a member of the advisory board of Adelphi University's School of Business, a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
